Christmas Joy and Festivities
The festive season at Forage Farms was nothing short of magical. We had the honour of providing over 80 families with our delicious Christmas hams, crafted with care and dedication. Our team gathered for a memorable Christmas party, indulging in a feast that showcased our own Christmas ham, smoked pulled pork, and the beloved pavlova. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the hard work and camaraderie that define our farm.
Welcoming the Lohmann LSL Classic Hens
This summer, we welcomed a new flock of Lohmann LSL Classic hens to our farm. These hens have quickly become an integral part of our operations, and we're excited to see them thrive in their new environment. For those interested in learning more about these new birds, you can read about them here.
Piglets and Grazing Cattle
Our sows have been busy, growing an abundance of piglets over the summer. Meanwhile, our cattle have enjoyed the lush pastures, with young calves seeing their first summer. This was our inaugural summer trialling a total grazing regime, following a winter and spring of grazing down stockpiled feed. The cattle are thriving, looking shiny and content, which speaks volumes about the success of our new system.
Broiler Program Challenges
While many aspects of the farm flourished, we faced some hurdles with our broiler program, which is temporarily on hold. We're actively seeking solutions to navigate these challenges, and you can read more about the situation here.
