Our Standards
You'll see certain words a lot around here, on packaging, on the website, from us directly. No Nasties, No Nonsense. Here's exactly what each one actually means, and how we back it up.
How We Farm
Natural Sequence Farming
Is a system of ecosystem restoration based on understanding natural patterns and processes and implementing management practices to regenerate the natural function of a landscape. See how we implement it →
Pasture-Raised
Our chickens and pigs live outside, moved onto fresh pasture every week, never confined to a shed. That constant movement is what keeps the ground healthy and our protein genuinely different.
Grass Fed and Finished
Our cattle graze pasture their entire lives, never finished in a grain shed. Recovery time between grazes isn't fixed; it shifts with the season, the goal, and the animals running, typically 30 to 120 days, sometimes more, sometimes less.
Holistic Grazing
Every grazing decision weighs the whole system together: plants, soil, animals and season, not one at a time. Time Control Grazing and Total Grazing are the two methods we use to put that thinking into practice, giving paddocks real recovery time instead of leaving it to chance.
Multi-Species
Chickens, pigs, cattle and sheep all work the same paddocks, each grazing differently. Diversity above the ground is what builds diversity below it.
Regenerative
We don't just aim to do less damage to the land, we aim to leave it better than we found it every season. That's the difference between farming that holds steady and farming that actually heals.
How We Prove It
Chemical Free
No pesticides, no herbicides, no artificial fertilisers touch our paddocks, ever. If the land can't grow it naturally, we'd rather work out why than force it.
GMO Free
Everything on this farm is raised naturally without the use of GMO`s (Genetically Modified Organisms)
Low Stress Stockhandling
We move and work with our animals calmly, without unnecessary fear or force. Calmer animals are healthier animals, and it shows in the meat. Plus, the team are all trained under Low Stress Stockhandling principles.
Whole Animal Butchery
We use the whole animal, not just the popular cuts. Less waste, and more respect for what was actually raised.
PROOF Certified
Our farm is independently verified against PROOF's standard: continuous daytime paddock access, real shade and shelter, and stocking rates that keep pasture always available. It's not a label we gave ourselves; someone else checked.
Experimentation
We test before we commit to change: one flock moved weekly against the rest for a season, before deciding to shift the whole farm. Guessing gets you nowhere on a landscape; a real trial tells you the truth.
Who We Are
Know Your Farmer
Real names, real faces, a farm you can actually walk around, not an anonymous supply chain. That's the whole point of everything else on this page. Meet the people behind Forage Farms →
Open Book
No locked gates, ever. Come on a farm tour and see exactly how your food is raised; we'll show you ourselves.
Third Generation
Three generations of regenerative farmers, starting with Peter, who developed Natural Sequence Farming, through to Stuart, Megan, Hamish, and Lachie, who took up the reins and built Tarwyn Park Training and Forage Farms around it. Three generations of regen farming in one family is rare, and it's still just getting started. Read our story →
Replication Over Scale
Rather than growing one farm as big as possible, we help other farmers take up the same standards. Every partner farm on our list is held to exactly what's written here. Meet our producers →
